Live like a nomad

You will have the chance to live in a a beautiful cave deep in the mountains of Filicudi.

Equipped with a fully functioning bathroom, amazing bedroom and an outdoor kitchen with a view to die for.

You will also notice the amazing art pieces – all made by Marina who has spent 27 years alone in the island.

Your home for the month, Filicudi is still considered remote today, even by the inhabitants of Lipari (less than 300 people).

In reality, this feeling of remoteness is not a question of distance but something deeper, being remote from the everyday world.

Why a remote island?

Filicudi is a wild and beautiful island. It’s ancient name is “Phoenicusa” because of its abundant vegetation of ferns.

Together with Alicudi it is geologically the oldest of the Aeolian Islands.

The Porto area is the center of the island where fisherman sit quietly and look for the catch of the day. In the south-western part of the island there is the small village of “Pecorini”, with the small fishing port and a small beach.

For those who love trekking should not miss is Monte Fossa delle Felci, 771 meters high reachable along an ancient mule track that leads to the top. From the peak it will be possible to admire the island of Alicudi and the imposing rock of “La Canna”.

For those who love diving there is an archaeological site to see.

Do not miss a visit to the Grotta del Bue Marino. The cave is 20 meters high, 30 meters wide and 20 meters deep. It can only be reached by small boats or by swimming.

At the bottom of the cave there is a small beach as well.

The only way in and out of the island is by ferry that comes once a day,  same time.

To do your shopping you need to wait for the floating store of the island – coming once a week with the ferry too.
